Description
European cities are under growing pressure to rapidly deploy innovative urban mobility solutions such as electrified transport systems, connected mobility services, automation, and multimodal mobility platforms. While technological progress is advancing quickly, many solutions still struggle to move beyond publicly funded pilots and demonstration projects relying mainly on European and national funding.
Building financially sustainable and investable deployment models remains a major challenge for cities and mobility ecosystems. This panel explores how Living Labs can help bridge this gap by evolving from experimentation environments into strategic spaces for de-risking innovation and supporting scalable deployment.
Bringing together perspectives from cities, European policy, Living Labs, industry and research, the session will discuss the struggles, best practices and success stories of Living Labs and how they contribute to building credible business cases, enabling public-private partnerships, validating operational feasibility, and supporting investment readiness for large-scale mobility transitions. Participants will gain practical insights into the challenges, opportunities and emerging best practices for transforming urban mobility innovation into sustainable and investable systems.
