TRACK 1: Living Labs for Grand Societal Challenges

Early experiences shape children’s relationship with healthcare for life. Feeling safe is key to treatment success, especially in long-term care. Experience a proven AR app, explore real clinical evidence, and co-design interventions that make pediatric health spaces safe, joyful, and built for growing patients.

14:00 – 14:10	Welcome and Framing Facilitator presents the core challenge and philosophical foundation. Participants are invited to reflect individually on their own earliest memory of a health space as a child.
14:10 – 14:35	The Augmented Reality (AR) Application Live Demonstration Participants use Animo AR on tablets and virtual glasses in a reconfigured room simulating a paediatric waiting space. Each participant engages with the jungle characters directly. Facilitated debrief follows in plenary, drawing out observations on distraction, control, and spatial experience.
14:35 – 14:55	Analyse: Evidence and Discussion Presentation of clinical evidence from the RCT (n=511) and broader AR literature. Small groups identify the most relevant findings for their own context. Groups report back in a structured plenary exchange.
14:55 – 15:20	Design: Co-Creation Exercise Participants form interdisciplinary groups and work through the AR intervention canvas, identifying a target population, health space, anxiety trigger, and AR design response. Each group presents their brief in two minutes. Facilitators and peers provide feedback.
15:20 – 15:30	Synthesis and Next Steps Collective reflection on key insights. Digital co-design outputs shared with all participants. Participants invited to continue collaboration beyond OLLD26.
