Do you have insights to share on the impact and value of Living Labs? We invite you to contribute to the discussion. OpenLivingLab Days 2026 is opening its Call for Panel Sessions, and we’re inviting you to help shape the conversations this year.

The 2026 edition of the OpenLivingLab Days will take place in Brussels and Antwerp, Belgium. It will begin with a Policy Event in Brussels on 29 September, then the OpenLivingLab Days conference will start in Antwerp on 30 September and 1 October where Panel Sessions will be featured in the agenda.

On the final day of the conference, the 2 October, site visits to Belgian Living Labs will take place.

LIVING LABS IMPACTS AND VALUES FOR A CHANGING WORLD

This year’s theme, “Living Labs Impacts and Values for a Changing World,” highlights the vital role Living Labs play in today’s hastily evolving environment

What we are looking for

We invite proposals for interactive panel session formats, such as roundtables or debate-style panel sessions, that encourage discussions. Applicants are asked to clearly describe the proposed panel structure in their submission. For example, this may take the form of a topic debate with short presentations followed by moderated discussion, or a roundtable organised as a guided conversation.

Successful panel sessions will aim to:

  • Bring together diverse perspectives and expertise around a shared topic
  • Foster meaningful interaction and dialogue among speakers
  • Inform, educate, encourage critical thinking, or influence the audience
  • Offer concrete insights, takeaways, or outcomes for the audience

Key requirements for panel session organisers

  • Panel Sessions are required to address topics that are critically relevant to OLLD26 theme “Living Labs Impacts and Values for a Changing World,” and the conference’s tracks
  • Panel sessions will be limited to 1 time slot of 75 minutes and should be designed to actively engage the audience
  • A broad representation of speakers is encouraged to provide diverse perspectives, ensuring a broad and inclusive conversation within each panel session
  • Where possible, panel sessions should establish links with ENoLL Working Groups, fostering collaboration and alignment with ongoing research and initiatives
  • Panel session organisers are expected to confirm participation from a sufficient number of contributors, so the panel can still take place if one or more speakers need to cancel
  • All panel sessions will be reviewed by the OpenLivingLab Days 2026 Organizing Committee before being accepted into the programme.

Evaluation Criteria

We seek engaging and well-structured panel sessions that contribute to the advancement of Living Labs. Panel sessions should focus on relevant results, impact, or advancing key topics. Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Quality and clarity of the proposed idea
  • Relevance of the topic and its ability to stimulate in-depth discussions
  • Breadth of the topic and inclusion of a diverse range of speakers
  • Panel session format and delivery, emphasizing the dissemination of research, work, or innovations rather than the promotion of specific entities or projects.

Proposals with the highest evaluation scores across these dimensions will be selected for the OLLD26 programme.

While not explicitly weighted, the following factors may also be taken into account:

  • Synergies between ENoLL Working Groups, initiatives and projects addressing similar topics
  • Collaboration between ENoLL members and external stakeholders

All panel sessions will be evaluated internally, and applicants will receive feedback by 29 May 2026.

Please note that, to present your Panel Sessions at OLLD26, all Panel Session participants (organisers and/or speakers) are required to purchase a ticket. As a Panel Session organiser and/or speaker, you will receive a discount on your ticket purchase under the ticket category “Presenters/organisers”. The ticket can involve only those who are indicated in the application form as speaker or moderators of the Panel Session.
