Reaching Andorra by plane

Andorra doesn’t have an airport, due to its location high up in the mountains. However, there are other possibilities for those who travel by plane.

The closest airport, with the official name Andorra-La Seu Airport (LEU), is located in La Seu d’Urgell, a town bordering Andorra.

In addition, there are several airports in the 200km radius:

We recommend international participants to fly to Barcelona-El Prat (BCN) airport.

Once you reach one of the airports, there are buses that connect to Andorra. Look for the nearest station on www.busandorra.com on the map and the bus lines that connect to Andorra. You also have the possibility of renting a car.

Reaching Andorra by Train

The nearest train station in France is L’Hospitalet-près-l’Andorre, located 38 kilometers from Andorra la Vella. This station is served by trains from several major French cities.

For travelers coming from Spain, the closest train station is Lleida Pirineus, approximately 150 kilometers from Andorra la Vella. High-speed AVE trains stop there, primarily arriving from Madrid-Puerta de Atocha and Barcelona Sants.

Entry information

If you are a citizen of the European Union, you do not need a visa to enter Andorra. The country has transit agreements with Spain and France, so travellers from any European state do not need any special permit. A passport or national ID card is sufficient for entering or leaving Andorra. On the other hand, if you are a citizen of a non-EU country but within the Schengen Area, you must have a valid passport. If you are from a country outside the Schengen Area, you will need a valid passport and a multiple-entry and exit Schengen visa to cross the Spanish or French border, as those are the mandatory entry points into Andorra.

Additional information:

  • The Principality of Andorra does not require any type of visa.
  • The Principality of Andorra is not a member of the Schengen Area, nor the European Union.
  • Access to the Principality can be done through France or Spain, which is why any non-EU person traveling to Andorra must inform themselves at the Embassies or Consulates of France or Spain (depending on the country from which they are accessing) about the need for a visa to enter the Schengen Area, and when appropriate, request and process the corresponding visa.
  • When necessary, the interested person must apply for a two-entry Schengen visa to be able to leave and re-enter the Schengen Area without difficulties. If you plan to enter and leave the Principality several times, you must be in possession of a multiple-entry visa.
