Rachel Palmén
Coordinator of the EU funded project INSPIRE & Senior Researcher at UOC
Rachel Palmén is a Senior Researcher based at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in Barcelona, Spain. She has advanced knowledge on gender equalities in science and innovation and has worked on various European Commission funded projects. She formed part of EFFORTI which developed an evaluation framework for promoting gender equality in R&I and resulted in various publications. She worked on the TARGET project, the findings of which have been published in the book she co-edited, A Reflexive Approach to Structural Change. She also formed part of the ACT project, the findings of which are charted in the book she coedited, A Community of Practice Approach to Improving Gender Equality in Research. She has also written practical guidance on how deeptech venture building programmes can promote more inclusive innovations. She is currently coordinator of INSPIRE: The European Centre of Excellence on Inclusive Gender Equality in Research and Innovation, a Horizon Europe project for five million euros over four years with 14 partners in Europe and Latin America. She is currently acting as an expert to the Global Science Council on gender equality in scientific organisations, has presented her work to the OECD and forms part of the UNESCO call to action to close the gender gap in science.
