The objective of this session is to explore the evolving role of living labs in fostering collaboration among academia, industry, government, and civil society, known as the quadruple helix. By examining the transition of living labs, we aim to identify strategies, best practices, and policy recommendations for harnessing their potential in driving innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development from the point of view of representatives of each of the Quadruple helix. This session will focus on the transition of living labs, emphasizing their capacity to address complex societal challenges and engage multiple stakeholders from academia, industry, government, and civil society.

In this role he is responsible for policy lobbying, networking/communication and project development, focussing in particular on ICT/data, Health, Mobility, Security and Manufacturing. Within the City of Eindhoven, he is part of the Strategy Department. Through his position he has strong links with European networks such as the Vanguard Initiative, ENoLL, Eurocities, ERRIN and OASC. Wim De Kinderen has represented the City of Eindhoven as a committed member of the Urban Agenda for the EU Digital Transition Partnership.

She is head of Research Department “Infrastructure, Networks, Mobility & Logistics” with high expertise on Traffic Management, Transport Systems Management, Use of Telematics Applications in: Maritime, Road and Combined Transport, GIS, Vehicle Fleet Management, Operations Research and in Road Safety. She has been assigned as Project Coordinator, Technical and Evaluation Manager for several EU as well as Greek projects. She manages Thessaloniki Smart Mobility Living Lab, which is an efficient member of ENoLL.

Project Director of BIT HabitatIsabella Longo is Project Director of BIT Habitat, the Urban Innovation Center of Barcelona City Council, which aims to tackle the social, economic, technological, and environmental challenges the city is facing. To do this, she combines the involvement and collaboration of members of civil society, universities, researchers, the business network, and the public sector. She also coordinated the establishment of the EIT Urban Mobility Initiative. For most of the past decade, Isabella has coordinated Barcelona’s Urbanization Observatory (Autonomous University of Barcelona), an urban research centre with a focus on analysing urban and societal transformations and designing strategic plans and policies to tackle specific needs. She has also been coordinating the International Master’s Degree of Landscape and Heritage Management (UAB-MUHBA). With an Engineering and urban planning background Isabella is a trend-watcher who is passionate about the city, society, sustainability, innovation, digital transformation, arts and culture, and world-changing ideas. She is a member of the Catalan Territorial Planning Society and works as a curator and designer of cultural events with a societal impact, addressing open debate and dialogue around the big challenges cities are facing.

He is an internationally renowned expert in the field of social innovation and co-founder and chair of the European School of Social Innovation. He was the scientific coordinator of the global research project “SI-DRIVE - Social Innovation: Driving Force of Social Change”, funded within the 7th Framework Program of the European Union, and has co-edited the Atlas of Social Innovation (https://www.socialinnovationatlas.net/). His research focuses on social sciences-based innovation research and social innovation.
