What will you see during the visit
Visit of the American Farm School living laboratory and overview of the work on creating a learner-centric, participatory, action-based and action-oriented education and learning in agrifood system.
The Strategic Program Management Office (SPMO) of AFS will host the OLLD2019 visit. The team of specialists will present their work on creating a learner-centric, participatory, action-based and action-oriented education and learning in agrifood system. The visit will include a demonstration of the AFS farms which are considered its living laboratory and a pre-view of the forthcoming unique installation of a Food Incubator. It will also present its Center for Agricultural Entrepreneurship which promotes business ideas into entrepreneurial sustainable actions via mentoring and networking in the fields of production, processing and distribution of high quality agricultural products and services.
About the American Farm School
Founded over a century ago, the American Farm School (AFS) serves society by providing formal agricultural education, technical and professional training, outreach and consultancy, new product development, entrepreneurial support, innovation facilitation, demonstration farm services and applied research. The holistic approach and overall practical role of the institute is met through the operation of the two 1.45 hectare demonstration farms which are considered as “its living laboratory”. AFS offers a portfolio of boutique products including Ω3 eggs, pasteurized milk and various other dairy products, turkey meat, pasta, wine, aromatic and pharmaceutical plants and oils, honey and vegetables.
